Banner Drop: Solidarity with People VS. Fossil Fuels

Last week, fossil fuels began flowing through Line 3 with the potential to emit 50 coal plants worth of carbon emission each year. The Biden administration has done nothing to stop this. All this week, People VS. Fossil Fuels is mobilizing in DC to demand action! Learn more at https://peoplevsfossilfuels.org/

For those who can't travel to DC, we invite all who stand against the threat of fossil fuels to join us for a banner drop at the Mount Tom overpass above I-91 on Wednesday, October 13th from 4-5:30PM!

Bring signs and flags - bigger is better! Here are the day-by-day themes of this week's People v. Fossil Fuels actions in DC if you want to align messages for any new signs:

  • Monday, October 11th: Indigenous Peoples Day.

  • Tuesday, October 12: Fossil fuels are driving the climate crisis.

  • Wednesday, October 13: Climate chaos is happening now.

  • Thursday, October 14: We need real solutions, not false promises. Only phasing out fossil fuels will deliver climate and environmental justice. We cannot rely on technologies like carbon capture and storage, carbon offsets, or nuclear energy.

  • Friday, October 15: We did not vote for fossil fuels. (Youth-led action.)

To get to the overpass, take Route 5 to Mountain Park Road, turn into Mount Tom State Park, and drive until you're on the overpass.

To protect those among us who are or care for those vulnerable to COVID-19, we ask that you maintain social distancing and wear masks as appropriate.
